Almond production keeps increasing year on year. It has reached over 1.2 million metric tons during the 2017/2018 season, 5% up from the previous season and 25% compared to the prior 10-year average. The USA leads the world production. In 2017/18 it accounted for 81% of the world share, followed by Australia and Spain with 7% and 4%, respectively. This distribution of the production has been relatively stable over the last 5 years. Australia and Chile have significantly increased their production over the last decade: the 2017/18 crop was 47% and 43% higher than the prior 10-year average, respectively.
